How We Work

To reduce gun violence, we must reach the right people at the right time. We’ve learned that doing this requires pairing trusted relationships with real-time insights from data.

Our Programs

Memphis Allies has developed two gun violence intervention program models — SWITCH and SWITCH Youth — to identify, connect with and serve individuals at the highest risk of involvement in gun violence, ages 12 to 35. These programs dramatically increase prevention services for youth and support community transformation.

At the core of our approach are SWITCH and SWITCH Youth, community intervention program models designed to identify, engage and support individuals at the highest risk of gun violence. These programs combine clinical support and community outreach services to help end cycles of violence.

How do we
define high risk?

  • Involved in a gang/group/clique
  • Recently shot/shot at
  • Had a family member/friend recently shot/shot at
  • Has a history of criminal justice interaction
  • Has not completed high school
  • Currently unemployed

Each participant is supported by a dedicated team that includes:

Outreach Specialists

with deep community roots

Life Coaches

with lived experience and mentorship expertise

Clinical Specialists

who provide therapy and trauma care

Case Managers

who connect individuals to housing, education and job support

Our Service Areas

SWITCH Youth is available citywide, while adult SWITCH services are offered in:
Raleigh/Frayser • Orange Mound • Hickory Hill/Parkway Village • Whitehaven • South Memphis • North Memphis • Binghampton

Partnering
For Success

No one organization can stop gun violence alone. Memphis Allies works shoulder-to-shoulder with local groups that bring credibility and compassion to the people they serve. By collaborating with organizations that provide trusted community outreach services and gun violence intervention programs, we expand our reach and impact.

What can you do?

Gun violence affects all of us. Whether you volunteer, donate, spread the word or join a local event, your support matters. Together, we can create safer streets, stronger neighborhoods and a brighter future for the next generation.
